EPD Ranking Tool
Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) Ranking Tool is useful for comparing an EPD value of a specified fiber trait, to all other EPDs of alpacas with similar characteristics, including breed, gender, age, and color. The tool allows you to determine where the EPD of an alpaca you are considering purchasing ranks relative to EPDs of all other alpacas in the EPD Program.

EPD Herd Analyzer
The EPD Herd Analyzer allows you to see EPD values and investigate EPD relationships between your herd and the national herd. It is now possible to identify alpacas with superior EPDs. This information is essential for selecting breeding partners and as an aid in valuation of individual alpacas. EPDs of six economically important alpaca fiber traits can be viewed, compared and analyzed.
The EPD Herd Analyzer provides three chart types and seven selection criteria. It offers over 7,000 chart possibilities, plus an interactive grid that lists EPDs for all alpacas.

EPD Mating Master
The EPD Mating Master allows you to define a weighted average of traits that you want your herd to reflect. The tool then searches the EPD data base to find the studs who will best deliver the desired results. For instance, you will be able to create an index that places 50% emphasis on fineness, 20% on guard hair reduction, 10% uniformity and 20% fleece weight. Once you select your index, the tool will search the data base and report back the ten best EPD mating alternatives.
You can also use this tool to help correct undesirable traits in your female. For example, if you have a female that is very fine, but lacks fleece weight and staple length, you might construct an index that puts 60% emphasis on fleece weight and 40% on staple length. The search will return the male's whose EPD's are best qualified to correct the female's faults.
